Obituary for Anthony Andrew Drotar

Anthony “Tony” DrotarBaileyville – Anthony Andrew Drotar, 74, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at his residence. Tony was born in Woodland, January 30, 1931, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Balog) Drotar. He is a Veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS Columbus during the Korean Conflict. On August 9, 1958, he married Marjorie Hanson in Woodland. Tony was employed by Georgia Pacific for over 47 years as a Foreman in the finishing room. He was a member of St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville and the William T. Wren Post #23 American Legion. Tony was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. For the past several years, Tony and Marjorie enjoyed wintering in Lake Wales, FL. Besides his parents, Tony was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Plaisted. Surviving are his loving wife of over 47 years, Marjorie; two sons, James A. Drotar and wife Rachel of Cape Cod, MA and Mark E. Drotar and wife Teresa of Symington, Scotland; 3 sisters, Regina Annis of Baileyville, Josephine Ramsdell and husband Robert of Baileyville, and Mary McNabb and husband Stephen of LaCrosse, WI; a brother, Michael “Brother William” Drotar of West Hartford, CT; a brother-in-law Ronald Hanson and wife Barbara of Kingston, Ontario; three granddaughters, Sonja, Natasha, and Megan Drotar; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where the Rosary will be recited at 8:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Frank Morin 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
