Life Legacy
Pleasant Point – Ryan "Bugaroo" Newell Jr., 30, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 20, 2007 as a result of an automobile accident. Ryan was born in Calais, March 5, 1977, son of Ryan J. Newell Sr. and Barbara A. Tomah. He graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1995. Ryan was employed as a carpenter with his father’s business, Ryan Newell Construction. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, family members and friends. Ryan was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth Tomah and James Neptune. Surviving are his father, Ryan J. Newell Sr. and wife Lisa of Pleasant Point; his mother, Barbara Dore and husband Robert of Perry; his paternal grandparents, Timothy and Ursula Newell of Pleasant Point; four sisters, Sioux Ann Bowen and husband Ricky III of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Lena Newell of Indian Township, Victoria Dore of Perry, and Brittani Leighton and husband Doug of Perry; four brothers, Richard Socabasin and wife Frances of Pleasant Point, Cheyenne Sabattis and wife Ashley of Lincoln, Devon Newell of Pleasant Point, and Damon Dore of Perry; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Monday, starting at 1 p.m., at the home of Ryan Newell Sr., 28 Wapap Rd., Pleasant Point, until 9 a.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Eugene Gaffey 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann Church, Pleasant Point. Burial will follow in the Tribal Cemetery.
